John McCarthy (n. 4 septembrie 1927, Boston, Massachusetts, SUA) este un informatician american, laureat al Premiului Turing în 1971 pentru contribuţiile aduse în domeniul inteligenţei artificiale. El este cel care a propus termenul de inteligenţă artificială şi a inventat limbajul de programare LISP.
